I&#8217;ve always worked by chipping away, little by little. I don&#8217;t set myself targets, and I try not to think about how far I still have to go, in case I get discouraged, something I&#8217;m far too prone to. <p>I work slowly most of the time so every month is a SloMo. Printing out is definitely required for serious editing, as is reading aloud though that comes nearer the end of whatever section I&#8217;m working on. I had a very good start to NaNo and a terrible end &#8211; but the good start enabled me to finish the first draft of a novel I&#8217;d been working on since 2013. It&#8217;s currently a 178,000 word monster, but I will use SloMo to start the long editing process, and also to write a couple of shorts.</p>
