Happy Mothering Sunday to all the mother Denizens.

Hoping to have a Facetime session with son and grandsons later today and I have younger grandson’s weekly story already written for him. The present series features all of us in one guise or another and I am back to the age of six, which is a lovely feeling. Each adventure begins in the beautiful garden that my father created and, as befits any childhood fantasy story, we go through something to find the adventure and magic. In this case it is the archway in the hedge which I used to go through to visit interesting and wise elderly neighbours. Now, I suppose, I am an elderly neighbour myself!!

What a wondrous gift is imagination and the skill of writing. I think everyone here will agree with that.

I had a lovely surprise email this week from a virtual friend from Cloud days – a lovely lady who read the whole of Lucy Rainbow, gave useful critique and has always encouraged me to keep on trying to ‘get her out there to a wider audience’.

We hadn’t been in touch for ages and I was glad to hear all is well for her and her family. She was, of course, enquiring in these turbulent times how I and my family were. She again emphasised her belief that Lucy should somehow get out there into the wider world and I took this as an omen that I should indeed try again as I had resolved at New Year. I am under no illusion that this will be an easy or short journey, but her email touched me greatly.

In thanks, I have sent her by email a book I wrote for younger children and hope that her grandchildren will enjoy it as much as the youngsters in my own family have done.

It is a crisp, bright morning here and I hope that the weather wherever you are is as good and will serve to cheer at this time of crisis. – Jill
