Well, Kate, you’ve got me stumped with this months competition. Still waiting for inspiration to strike.

Well done Sandra, really good competition, thanks. -

I didn’t have any specific criteria in mind by which to judge this; just expected to choose the one which moved me most, in much the same way as Vicki Feaver’s poetry moves me. Which was a BIG mistake. Because each and every entry was thought-provoking in a subtly different way.
But definitely NOT a mistake for the pleasure each one brought me,…[Read more]

With a dozen sparkling and highly entertaining entries already posted I know I’m only making it harder for myself to choose, but feel obliged to point out that there’s still five days to go before the deadline.

@Athelstone, @JaneShuff, @GippsGirl re posting Step so grave, if I’ve interpreted the Royal Mail site right (and often I don’t) it’ll cost £7.65 to send to France, £3 for the UK, plus, say 75p for P&P so, Jane, if you have a UK address that’ll still be cheaper than Blurb. (My profit per book is 78p, not £1.30 – maths never my strong point!- so I…[Read more]

Thanks Robyn, I’ll gladly sign and send you one but hopefully it’ll save you money rather than reward me because Blurb charge an embarrassing (to me) £6.99 p&p for a single book. I’m profiting by ~£1.30 per book, which is fine because I’m not after making money, just getting it out to those friends who have expressed an interest (and much p…[Read more]

Jane, I’d be delighted to sign and send you one, how much would be the £7.95 + p&p. I’ve not yet got the order back and would need to go to the post office to find out what it costs. Will let you know.

Shame … I’ll check out postage costs. Or better still, hope to arrange a meet up; it’s been far too long.

I’ve not booked for York but depending on dates could certainly deliver to anyone interested – good idea, in fact, but we’re in Orkney 5-14th …

Eight years ago I signed up for NaNoWriMo 2011 with plans to write a murder mystery (a genre I then knew little of).
I had a title. An idea: a cruise ship on which brides were bumped off to order. I had back stories for a dozen honeymooning couples; for ship’s crew and owners (some good, some bad). Best of all I had DI Luke Darbyshere and c…[Read more]

Thanks, everyone. Bit of a relief, back on track now. It’s the context that makes all the difference. The song is about seeking adventure now, because it’s later than you think. Eg:
Hitchhike down to Mexico,
Drive to Kathmandu,
Better do it now, my friend,
Time catches up with you. Thanks again, everyone.

Thanks Jane. The previous line, which I’m still working on, is something like:
Go now, go now, don’t hesitate, your only master’s you,
Don’t ever let yourself regret the things you didn’t do.I think in that context it’s clearer. No?

Oh no! I was hoping to inspire, not stump. Maybe a nautical theme from you with the Captain reference?
A trawler Captain, he could be the captain of my sole!
Sounds fishy to me. 🙂
There had to be a catch.
Good one. I’ve been trying to come up with some smart reply, but I’ve got nothing, so you win this round!
Still floundering, Kate?
Perfect, Bella!
