Oops! But the good thing is that making mistakes isn’t the end of the world – which you have proved! And I’ve had plenty of mistakes along the way too…

Hi Laure!

Yes, good to mention that you’re submitting to other agents, and to note any interest shown to nudge them along (generally. Just not specifically).

@Skylark – I meant naming specifically! All my cover letters said “the full MS is currently with Sarah Manning”. [face palm]
No agent commented on it (even during my one-to-ones at York), but they probably were a bit like… “I didn’t really want to know that”.

Hullo, Laure! Congrats on the published stories. And welcome to The Den 🤗🙌

Yes, agree with that Philippa. I’ve not got anything else to add yet, except to agree with comments already made – and thank you for setting this up!

Edit: and like the edit button!

Really interesting reading, Richard. The name was familiar but I haven’t read anything by him. It’ unusal for me not to have at least sampled something by a historic fantasy writer. I can see what you mean about his writing being a bit Marmite. It was making me wince and laugh at the same time.

Everything Philippa said! Though re the faux pas, do you mean in terms of naming the agent specifically or not saying that it’s being read at all? Knicks – thanks! Hug much appreciated. I know. I literally wouldn’t kill a fly. Even a tiny one.

Welcome, Pinkbelt.

This forum already seems to be so energised. It’s great.

Hi Pinks

CONGRAULATIONS on reaching this (very exciting) stage. Well, it seems you are already are ahead of the game in that you have taken the time to do your research (which sadly writers often don’t do). That has already increased your chances by, like, a million. 🙂

You will probably already know these tips, but
1) thoroughly research the…[Read more]

Aw, well – maybe we’ll have to go together next year if they do one! What is a Golden Egg workshop?! Sounds very children’s author, too!

P.S. Lols @ WB kitty XD

*pounces on Hil and gives Philippa a hug because she had to do a very hard thing indeed.* I love snails. I feel like if I ever hit anything I love with my car that I’d never drive again. I always look out for little things in the road. I panic having to drive over empty boxes in the street for fear a litter of cuteness is somehow inside. Less so…[Read more]
