Something like Full Marks from Tesco medicine shelves (or any big supermarket or Chemist) or ask in a chemist for what they recommend. Or if you want to avoid chemicals, use a lot of conditioner (really – a lot) and work it in well. Leave for at least 15 minutes and comb out with a fine-tooth nit-comb (that you can also buy at a chemist)

Thanks Ath. What I need is chemicals! I have tried everything else. We are off to the UK to look after my dad for a week and I absolutely cannot give him head lice. They have just come back again and I cannot buy anything effective (with chemicals) unless I have a prescription.

Jane, I had so many battles with my kids, I was exasperated, specially as my girl had double-thickness hair. This doesn’t help to get rid (they must have moved on a time-or-three since I did battle), but I have heard that once they are gone, using a serum on the hair makes it more difficult for eggs to adhere to it. My daughter is a hairdresser and has recommended going to a chemist for products that give best results and to diligently follow the instructions on the back of the bottle. We used a tea tree shampoo when she was a child, which was effective with one of the fine nit combs when the hair is wet (after shampoo).

Thanks both. They are tenacious b******s. This is the second time they have come back so your daughters recommendations are not falling on deaf ears, GippsGirl. I am on the ferry at the moment and will be first in the queue at the chemists tomorrow morning. Luckily my OH is fairly bald but I will be making him have a precautionary treatment as well.

I’m away to Cornwall via Bath tmrw for a tour of cousins. I have a pile of editing and the monthly comp to do while away… (don’t say to take time off and relax because I need something to distract me from my in-laws!!). Can English people confirm England is doing sunshine at the moment, please?

I have relatives in Weston super Mare so keep the forecast for there on my phone. The forecast there is rain on Friday and Saturday and then fine weather again. Daytime temps around 20 degrees, starting to rise a bit from Sunday.

I have some child-gone-to-granny days and need to do something productive, but I have 3 wips that I could edit or one half written thing from NaNo (loooooong ago) and I DONT KNOW WHICH TO DO.

Well, eat chocolate, obvs. You need sustenance. But while eating chocolate option C strikes me as the most time-sensitive, assuming you have a beta reader lined up. If option C is not, in fact, time-sensitive then just do whatever grabs you. While eating chocolate.

Yup, I second Bella as that does have a sort of deadline. And ought to afford time for copious chocolate consumption.
(But you’ve omitted the monthly competition!!)-
I’d agree, if something is time sensitive, do that first. Otherwise choose whichever is most likely to be finished or substantially completed in the time you have available so you can cross it off your list/see an end in sight for it.
And eat and drink whatever helps the process along!
