A question for fantasy writers – where do you submit your short stories/flash fiction to. I struggle to find places that take the sort of writing I like doing. Is it more practical to keep an eye out for submission calls on specific fantasy projects? Are there any sites I should be following for this? I’m finding the whole process very frustrating at the moment, so any thoughts and ideas would be appreciated.

Check out Dark Markets ( https://www.darkmarkets.com/?m=0 ) – mostly horror but there are fantasy and sci fi too. Also subscribe to the Short Stops Newsletter and thevAuthors Publish newsletter. Both send you regular emails featuring places to submit too – which includes a fair chunk of the fantasy market. Specific zines and antjologies – check out Lightspeed, Nine Star Pressvand Tor.com (not to be confused with the Tor parent company.) There are a whole bunch of others and if you speak nicely to @daedalus I believe he has a list which he might be willing to share?
Indeed, I have a list though it’s already slightly out of date on account of a couple of the markets either closing or ceasing to do open calls. I’ll copy it into the main forum
