What a journey – and what a great writeup! Gutted I won’t be there this year – it sounds like I really need to get to York more often. I’m signed up to one of Emma’s SE days though 🙂

(Side note: still getting used to this site. How do those tags work and how come some names became tags and others didn’t?)

Hi Deads, I can write a blog, but I’m only going to be at the Festival for the Sunday, so I’m not sure how helpful it will be!

Skylark, you know you are my inspiration! I’ve watched what you’ve achieved, and I’m just like, “I want that!” It is lovely to see your “journey” from start to finish. I am so looking forward to your speech. xxx

Hello indeed! Nice to catch up, how’s the writing going?
-
Hi! Wiring is going well, thanks. I have an agent for the first book, and we are currently working on edits so that it’s ready to sub. Hope about you??

*Writing, even!
* How * about you…-
As my husband is an electrician, that made me smile!
I had the big agent sign me thing, which was amazing, but then he couldn’t get a publisher to take a chance on my book as it was set in America and I’m British, so dropped me. Then an Indie publisher, Urbane books, signed it and it was published last year ( Nemesister) and the sequel is out on…[Read more]

Won’t be there this year, Skylark, but you deserve all your success. Hope your key note speech goes brilliantly and that you can enjoy the moment in spite of your nerves. Sending a hug. x

@louisewalters Kept wondering why your name seemed so familiar and remembered you are Louise Walters of Mrs Sinclair’s Suitcase! I read it two years ago and its nostalgia still lingers. 🙂

Hi GippsGirl, that’s so lovely to hear, thank you! I’ve now written and indie published two further books; I am an editor for Jericho Writers (are we allowed to mention them on here;-) and I have founded a small, indie publisher, Louise Walters Books. It all keeps me from getting bored! Hope you are well?
-
Ooo, congrats on your publishing business. Must be your 1st anniversary about now?
-
It is! I announced it after York last year, but had been working towards it for months. I’ve signed two authors so far and have another two or three I have my eye on. It’s exciting but so much hard work. So although I’m working at York this year, it will feel like a break!
-
… and a chance to talent-spot! Have a great time.
-
Well, yes, of course! I will be quietly looking for great novels and novellas!
