December SloMo 7 years, 7 months agoSo my aim for today was to post this month’s challenge and get the shopping done. And I have just done both. So now I am covered in cats and physically unable to get myself more tea. *weeps*
Tmrw, I am hoping for 1000 words…

Good stuff, @raine! I sometimes refer to those kinds of tasks as āclearing the decksā work. Like, getting that pesky stuff done so that I have a clear run of time in which to get my head down. āClearing the decksā work is important work, not procrastination, because itās a means to the end of getting the creative work done successfully. AT least,…[Read more]

Ok, so I’m going all seasonal because how could I not? Below are two lists, one of seasonal events/moments, one of items/beings. Pick one from each and do what you like with them. 400 words. Have at it, my lovelies.
Events:
– Lighting the first menorah candle.
– a Christmas eve midnight church service.
– Longest night.
– the hour before dawn on…[Read more] -

Oh crikey, thank you so much jonathon! I wasn’t expecting that at all! There was so much to love in all the others. I actually, despite your concerns, absolutely loved your list of prompts!
I’m (still) on a train so will mull on a theme and kick off December tmrw. Thank you again. š

December SloMo 7 years, 7 months agoI’ve had a pretty good November writingwise, and have really re-connected with my current WIP which I started in a botched 3 day long Nano attempt a couple of years ago. I’ve also been re-reading my first MS to look for structural issues (found; fixing).
Now if I can just keep on at it without all of these real-life distractions. Work, family,…[Read more]

Congratulations, Raine! Well-deserved š
And thank you, Jonathan, for dragging me out of my writerly walled garden and dropping me who-knows-where. -

Happy December 1st Denizens! I have to admit I spent some of November going “They hate me! I’ve ruined the comp (again) with my over-restrictive prompts!” but these stories show me very much otherwise, so thank you. Anyway – comments & results incoming…

December SloMo 7 years, 7 months agoWell hello Denizens. Here’s December already and time to go easy on ourselves in amongst the seasonal madness. Come on in. Tell us what you might try to do today, or what you really don’t want to do, but have to. Get a cheer for dragging yourself out for a walk, or request a kick up the proverbial to hit that (low) word count. The kettle is always…[Read more]

This is brilliant @raine 😊 I mosied into the Den wondering if I should set up a SloMo thread but your brilliant self had already taken care of it. After a frenetic NaNo I’m going to scale my daily word count target back a bit and take more time for actual fun. I now have to schedule fun or I forget! So I’d like to finish my NaNo novel and write a…[Read more]

I have an editorial read-through booked for the end of January so my Slo-Mo aim is to rewrite a couple of chapters to increase the stakes and generally tighten up.
