    @raine – found it. The kitchen saga…
    Basically, we have a worktop that is not level (actually goes the ‘wrong’ way so water runs away from the sink) with the point where the join is on that worktop opened up. We have self opening drawers because they were not put in level. Or floor was re-screed for times before it was good enough to lay vinyl (the fourth time was the actual carpet people). Handles worked loose within weeks. Cabinet trim fitted from inside cupboards instead of from outside. Cooker we requested was not compatible with induction hob we requested – cooker has been dropped as a result, but we should have been advised at design stage that the kind of cooker we wanted was not compatible. We weren’t. What else… Radiator was fixed onto wall with wrong brackets. Refitted on right brackets but is now on the slant (and just into plasterboard, so risk of plasterboard failing). Um… cupboard doors not squared because units are not level. I could probably go on…

    Basically we are resigned to living with the mistakes (and yes, we probably should have done more about it at the time, but we’d already used the oven before the hob was found not to fit, and the worktop we highlighted and were given some gumpf about our kitchen floor not being level…) but we’re asking for compensation for the shoddy work.

    • And apologies – just read this through and it seems my u is not working very well on the keyboard! Pshhh. Authors. You’d think they’d check their spellings, wouldn’t you? (And of course the blasted u has worked perfectly all through this post…)

      • 😀 I have a w that doesn’t work on my laptop keyboard, and a slightly sticky shift button on my external keyboard! I blame the complete lack of dusting.

        • I blame the fellas eating at the keyboard – the crumbs get stuck underneath, especially on the lap top 😉
