What a great story, @skylark. Wish I was there for your keynote, but I can only justify coming over from Ireland if I’ve got something written that I can talk about. Which I’ve not got. But your success is well-deserved, and I’m sure you’ll inspire a ton of people with your talk on Sunday!

Philippa, I’ve called him Deads at least 3 or 4 times (hurrying or spellcheck fail) and he’s always been most gracious about it. 😄 Just thinking about your first chapter and pitch success, and Mandy’s keynote speech, makes me doubly happy to go this year.

Hi Elle,
You have some neat phrases – “an artificial sun of modern technology”, ” in a voice too high to be natural”, “The answer nothing more than a Pavlovian response.” “Had her mother been one of those flashes of light?”. I could probably go on some more.
I think one big stumbling block for me is the sentence structure. You have alot of…[Read more]

What a journey – and what a great writeup! Gutted I won’t be there this year – it sounds like I really need to get to York more often. I’m signed up to one of Emma’s SE days though 🙂

(Side note: still getting used to this site. How do those tags work and how come some names became tags and others didn’t?)

Hi Deads, I can write a blog, but I’m only going to be at the Festival for the Sunday, so I’m not sure how helpful it will be!

Skylark, you know you are my inspiration! I’ve watched what you’ve achieved, and I’m just like, “I want that!” It is lovely to see your “journey” from start to finish. I am so looking forward to your speech. xxx

Hello indeed! Nice to catch up, how’s the writing going?

Hi! Wiring is going well, thanks. I have an agent for the first book, and we are currently working on edits so that it’s ready to sub. Hope about you??

* How * about you…-
As my husband is an electrician, that made me smile!
I had the big agent sign me thing, which was amazing, but then he couldn’t get a publisher to take a chance on my book as it was set in America and I’m British, so dropped me. Then an Indie publisher, Urbane books, signed it and it was published last year ( Nemesister) and the sequel is out on…[Read more]
