Exciting times. I can’t come but I hope you have a great event. Looking forward to reading it!
-
Same here I’m afraid, Philippa, but I hope you have a wonderful, memorable time x
-
-
This is brilliant news. Pretty unlikely I’ll be able to make it, much as I’d love to, although there is a small chance. Can’t wait to read it in any event
-
Thanks guys!
-
Very exciting! I’ll be there, and if anyone else is coming and likely to be in Lincoln early… I might be in a pub somewhere. Or I’ll be visiting the cathedral all by my little old self! Or with @elle maybe?
-
So very exciting @philippaeast! I would love to be there but won’t be, obviously 🙂 Have a fantastic time and enjoy every minute of this very significant first! xx
-
@hilary I should be in Lincoln early afternoon so definitely happy to have a drink and catch-up before the launch. I know someone else who will be in town early. Cannot wait for it!

In honour of the new year, the theme for this month’s competition is The Future. You can interpret that in any way you wish. Around 400 words but happy for it to be a lot less if you prefer.

Just got back from a lovely day out culminating in finally seeing Stars Wars nine to this. First time I have ever won anything! Thank you Janette for the competition and thank you everybody for the comments. I love the way these competitions inspire so many different takes on the same prompt and I am feeling very honoured that Janette chose mine.…[Read more]

This year, Santa brought me, Mrs Ath, and the in-laws…..norovirus.
-
Noooooo. You poor things. I hope you’re feeling better and ready to enjoy a festive New Year!
-
That’s grim, Ath. I do hope you’re all getting better. All the best.
-
About 20 hours in. Can now keep water down (which is nice). Bit annoyed that the in-laws didn’t tell us how I’ll they were until the middle of our visit. With D’s mum being an ex ward sister I’d have expected better.
-
I’d have been quite a lot annoyed 🙂

-
Ugh … in-laws can be outlaws of the very worst sort …
-
What rotten luck. Hope all are feeling better x

Slipping through the door at (nearly) the 11th hour. 400 words with title.
The Tent
When I was eight, my parents gave me a tent for Christmas. Of course, I insisted on spending the night in the garden. The coldest night of the year, but I wore them down with my relentless pleading until finally, with three pairs of pyjamas, two sleeping bags, a…[Read more]

Slipping in at almost the last moment… with 395 words:
On the last day of the old year, the family always walked to Rock Island. Chivvied by our mother and wrapped up well in woollen jumpers, tights, hats, scarfs and gloves. The time of day when dusk was falling like a dark chiffon scarf over the landscape. We’d walk the sandy path along the t…[Read more]

Should I write a bit more this afternoon or should I go and watch Star Wars 7 and 8 in preparation for going to see Star Wars The Rise of Starwalker next week???

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months ago@katemachon. The questions come from Andrew Wille’s questionnaire but there are lots of others about. Personally, I don’t find the What is their favourite colour sort of question very helpful. I think the best ones work a bit like writing prompts, sparking ideas off or pulling ideas together. Anyway I’m glad it was interesting!

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months ago@janeshuff Heavens, what a hugely impressive amount of insight. I’m not sure I know that much about my main characters who have been around for four books (but it would be interesting to see what I DO know, so I’ll spend some time with this – thank you, really enlightening.

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoHi @katemachon. Here’s the character questionnaire I did for Dipsy. You’ll see that I ignored some of the questions – basically if nothing comes to mind, I don’t beat myself up about it. I also don’t worry about the answers being particaulrly interesting, so some of it is pretty dull. But I do find them helpful for clarifying and focussing…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoJust skimmed this, Jane, but I love Dipsy!
Yep, I also found the ‘bony, restless fingers’ at odds with her large hips, (although possibly also influenced by her having the same name as a teletubby :)) - Load More
