Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoHi all.
Technically, we’re at the end of the 3 weeks for Class 2.
I, for one, am kind of all over the place. I’ve read all the core reading, shared my gleanings from Class 1 at my IRL writing group, done some exercises with them, but not done the exercises for Class 2 at all or really got going on the other elements. I was also meaning to join…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoWelcome to Class 2 of the DIY MA. We should be finding our feet by now, so we’ll get right on to it.
Once again, we are going with 3 weeks for this class and are beginning with the class reading.
In your copy of Janet Burroway’s Writing Fiction (tenth edition), please turn to Ch. 3: Building Character (44-45, 63-74) and get reading.

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoMy intention was to write everyday and to start using the journal, but I am not there yet! I am still working up to actively arriving at my desktop each day…
I like the sound of your plan, Janeshuff. They look like good, realistic targets.

Hang on, I’m writing! I am. I’ll check the website.

My buddies have all gone too 🙁
I’m Athelstone on NaNo. Anybody there?-
I am on and buddies with Silversquidge. But I am struggling with the website as the graphics are all misplaced on my screen.

I am also being a bit lax in the commenting and writing exercises part, but will aim to be more active on it shortly.

Woolleybeans replied to the topic Craft Seminar Class 1: Getting Started: Memory, Obs in the forum
Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoI shall get my reflections together in the next couple of days. My IRL writing group is reading at a local festival thing tomorrow night, and I seem to have lost my multitasking skills…
With regards to the next seminar, can we share thoughts on how it’s gone so far over the next few days.
If everyone is good with it, we can start the next…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoI have to say, my Twain dialect sounds a lot like my Of Mice and Men California dialect – that is, they more sound to be from Barnsley.
I have not done any exercises yet. I did I Remember for another thing a few weeks ago and I think confusion might be something that fixes memories for me!

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoLove the dialogue, Raine. Did you do that as you listened?
The I Remember is highly evocative! It’s turned into a piece about your Grandad, hasn’t it?

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoI read the gorgeousness passages out whilst in the bath. One of my dogs came and listened, but I can’t say he looked overly impressed…
I think I see what she is saying about them, in terms of them having the sounds and so on as part of the prose, but I didn’t really like two of them on a personal level. The third one was the one that struck me…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 7 months agoFinally read all of Chapter 1 in the Burroway book. It made lots of sense and I can already feel the details slipping away from me… To that end, I am going to try writing myself some summaries of the readings and see if they help it go into my memory better.
