Happy Mothering Sunday to all the mother Denizens.
Hoping to have a Facetime session with son and grandsons later today and I have younger grandson’s weekly story already written for him. The present series features all of us in one guise or another and I am back to the age of six, which is a lovely feeling. Each adventure begins in the…[Read more]

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months agoThank you Jane and Raine. My immediate intention is to revisit/re edit a book for younger children and my Lucy Rainbow ‘opus’ with a view to submitting them again. Also to continue working on something which combines new prose and my past poetry. May never be a market for that but it will give me great satisfaction and may be of interest to fam…[Read more]

Sounds like a nice range of projects for you to move between when the mood takes you! I struggle with the multi-projecting, which is all I’ve been doing for aaaages, but I’m hoping to actually pick one project and stick for it for a while!
-
Oh! How I emphasise . Lovely to have so many ideas, but must focus on one of a time if possible. On the other hand, I suspect we are both skilled multitaskers in many areas!
-
I envy you both. I find it very difficult to work on more than one thing at a time.

This is SO SO SO fantastic! And what a ride! Laure really has worked so hard for this, constantly writing and submitting short stories, going on courses, writing and re-writing her novel(s), and continually striving for her break. SO PROUD OF HER!

This is such brilliant news, Janette! I can wait to hear all about the book… and see it on the shelves in all its published glory! Xxx

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months ago“What’s new, Sandra?”
Regrettably, nothing. 42K+ words into my current wip, taking some pains to streamline the process, not make the same mistakes, I realise I am still incapable of identifying, plotting the story until the characters tell me who they are and what is happening.
After a couple of weeks of floundering (necessary, it appears) I…[Read more] -

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months agoI saw you’d done it @raine but I can’t look until I have had a go myself. Well done on the new pantser WIP. Enjoy. You can always be like me and spend months trying to get it into some sort of shape afterwards.

The Spring Has Sprung
‘The birdies is upon the wing, but that’s absurd.’
Tom was on his hundredth rendition of the poem when I clutched his hand and pointed to the merry-go-round.
‘Look, Tom. Your Uncle Fred and I used to play on that when we were your age. Do you want a go?’
He pulled himself free and ran to it with excited bouncing s…[Read more]

I said on Twitter, but will say again here because this is worth double congratulations …. YAY!!! I’m so delighted for you. Not at all surprised that you’ve found yourself an agent, and cant’ wait to see where you go from here. 🙂

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months agoI did the decluttering exercise the other day, @janeshuff. But yes @janette, I might try the monthly prompt as a mini-challenge next week. I’ve actually just speed-written 1,300 words of a brand new wip with NO PLANNING WHATSOEVER, which is Very Not Me! I figure in the absence of an ability to concentrate, maybe I should give pantsing a go! 😀
-
@Raine, I feel very guilty about this, but my meeting with the agent today has left me with quite a list of ‘to do’s’ she wants done quickly, and I’m not sure I’ll be able to make the comp.
Re the new wip, best of luck, though I feel it is in very capable hands and sometimes no planning comes up with surprising results! -
@Raine – sounds liberating. Long may it continue.

Oh WOW @elle! That is such a brilliant ride – 3 agents offering rep, including your dream agent! That is truly the dream 🙂 And yes, it must be a ripper of a book. Having seen some of your writing, I’m not in the least surprised. CONGRATULATIONS!! Enjoy the giddiness 🙂

Thanks @athelstone! Still going to have to do some editing before it’s reading to go out on sub. It was interesting to see how agents can see the same book really differently.

Don’t anyone worry about the monthly competition. Janette and Jane or anyone else, please don’t feel any pressure to participate. I understand.

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months agoI am going to try @janette to combine the monthly comp and the decluttering exercise somehow. Maybe it will be a mistake!

CoronaMo 6 years, 4 months agoJust noticed that no-one’s partaken in the monthly comp so far. Might this be a good distraction from that which shall not be mentioned? I’m pretty busy but will try and fit it in.
