I’ve gotta ask – what’s a bindle? 🙂
Oh JB! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to gush like crazy over this, haha ^.^
It is the quintessential fairytale runaway sack, the one that is really a large cloth, filled with edibles and essentials, and tied to one end of a long stick that is then carried on the shoulder. Also known as the bindle sack, bindle stick and blanket stick. I have pictures!

Mine’s filled with me lappie for writing, me faerie books for inspiration and research porpoises, an extra blanket for chilly nights in the Den and also for something to sit on outdoors when the weather is nice, water bottle, pen knife, a pack of honey-roasted almonds and a map of Everywhere cos I can get lost like nobody’s business 😀
Ahhh! Yeah I always wondered what they were called when I was looking at fairy tale book illustrations as a child but no one seemed to know. Knowledge acquired. I feel like I should be able to level up or something lol
Thanks 😀
It de best. You welcome ^_^
I remember, from way way back and God knows where, the phrase ‘bindle stiff.’ This is definitely US, and thanks to Knicky I now know it means a hobo, bum, tramp or whatever carrying a bindle. Result!
Hehe. It’s the first item in a Lost Boy’s (or Girl’s) runaway kit 😀
