I really enjoyed these entries! This was a difficult decision.
@ Kate, the fairy was a nice surprise. I never saw that coming.
@ Athelstone, I enjoyed that bitter twist at the end
@ Sandra, I liked how I never met the wife but through the character, I feel like I met her through his POV.
Tough decision, but the win goes to @ Kate.

I agreed with Athelstone’s suggestion of another month too. So yes, the prompt is there for April.

I pass an employee of the electricity company every day during my lunch break. He is parked under a tree, feet sticking through his truck’s window. One day, I pass, and he isn’t there. Share the story of where he is and what he’s doing.
No rules other than no more than 500 words by March 31.

@Athelstone, I enjoyed the story. Loved the justification for why he does what he does.
@Seagreen, great prompt. I’m motivated to return to working on the story for that antagonist.

Elixir
The dead body in front of Santana was the second thing on his mind. Top spot went to conquering his nausea.
“You going to puke, man?” asked Jude.
Santana shook his head.

<p style=”text-align: center;”>The Route

My boss’ office stank of cabbage warring with eggs. A ginger ale for my stomach was the first thing I would get when I escaped his office.I fiddled with the fuzzy lint in my pockets.
“Out with it, I haven’t got all day.” My boss’ crow-black hair and smooth hands made him look younger than his sixty…[Read more]

It’s tourist time in my country. Every tourist I see is laughing and smiling regardless of where they are or the time of day. Inspired by that observation, write a story involving the emotion of happiness.
It doesn’t have to be the primary emotion; it might make a fleeting appearance as long as it appears at some point.
No more than 500 words by…[Read more]

The Day Grammar Didn’t Matter
I held a snake, ate a worm-like creature out the ocean so fresh it was moving, and listened to a mariachi band. But it was time to iron. Such was life when a business trip spanned a weekend and stretched into the next week.
I tossed my white Oxford shirt across the ironing board.
My tenth-floor hotel room’s bay…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: center;”>After the Gathering

Ask any of us CD players and we will tell you the worst punishment is the dumpster. But after the gathering, I knew better. The dark room where they stuck us reeked of decaying cardboard and strawberry gum. We called it, The Gathering Room. Employees labelled it a mortuary for CD players. You…[Read more]

Sandra – I liked the helplessness the MC feels initially and that internal change at the end
Seagreen – capturing the elation without naming it and the imagery was awesome
Clebs – loved the shift from the mournful…[Read more]

In my country, on August 1 of each year there is a grand festival. This year changes were made to the festival. These have not been warmly embraced by the public.
In light of this, in no more than 500 words, write a story centered around change. Feel free to take it any direction you like!
Deadline – midnight August 31
