Deeply pleased to hear other people want idle chat.

My thoughts… I agree that the format doesn’t help and I’d love to see it changed. Maybe to something that would encourage more idle chat. Something about the format makes me feel I need to have something particularly worthwhile to say in order to post. I think idle chat is important for keeping relationships going but I may be in a minority…[Read more]

You brought back so many memories Richard. Begging for my own radio so I could listen to Radio Luxembourg at night. Was the Power Play a RL thing? Anyway thanks for the chance to remember my youth!

No. I am in France just down the coast in Brittany but keep on planning to visit with a friend who lives in Normandy

Interesting. I would have said it is perfectly acceptable to use contractions such as Iām, Heād, donāt etc in narrative writing. In fact I think itās fine to use anything you want provided it doesnāt obscure the meaning. Itās all down to what the voice and style require.

Collaboration. Either someone wanting to produce this song, or one of my others, or wants me to write something to a specific melody. We’ll see! Elton John hasn’t called yet – must be busy.

Definitely true. The garlic in the box I get from the organic farmer in the next village is ten times tastier than supermarket stuff.

Posting this on the off chance someone can help. I’m planning my next book, part of which will be set in a camp for refugees and immigrants – very similar to the camp on Lesbos in Greece. I need to do some research into the conditions in the Greek camps and how they operates and also get some sense of the refugees’ different stories. I’ve found an…[Read more]

Good article @dougk.
For anyone looking to submit to Indie Presses in the UK and Ireland, the Indie Press Guide produced by Mslexia is a good place to start. Also, if you don’t have an agent to check a contract for you, the Society of Authors in the UK will check it at no charge. I’ve found them VERY thorough!

Thank you @johnalty. I’ll be happy if it does what the publishers hope it will do! I might need your help as I’m contracted to write a second in the series and it is looking as though there’ll be a bit of sailing in it.

Idle chat about what? Oh, ⦠yeah. Yes please.
Been lucky enough to escape Covid testing but got to have two next week before travelling. Are they really as awful as people claim?
Ah, I can spot idle chat when it slaps me in the face. Have done one of the lateral flow type – you have to stroke your tonsils with a long cotton bud, then right up your nose. Fun. I find the tonsils one really difficult, makes me retch. OTOH I was clear š In the UK we can get free tests from pharmacies. Go for it! Hope itās a nice holiday.
Well, I’ll let you know Barny but it sounds disgusting!
[idly] you did ask. Yeah let me know how it goes, but you can skim the details if you want.
Watch this space…
All fine! But only nasal swab for PCR test in France!!
