Creating weekly stories for Facetime sessions with grandsons, I am also learning or relearning historical facts as we go often go back in time and to different countries. An unexpected bonus helping to keep the old brain functioning well!

Thank you, John for setting this competition and for your kind comments. Raine is, indeed, a worthy winner – we all need ‘all that energy and power’ especially now to keep us going! Loved the other two entries too. When I joined I said I probably would not be entering competitions as I needed to concentrate on my own writing at the moment, but…[Read more]

Spring’s Beautiful Bounty
‘No-one ever said that Life would be a bed of roses.’ Spring 2020 is proving that old saw to be true in no uncertain terms worldwide.
But Mother Nature continues her cycle for the eye’s appreciation and the lifting of spirits; for inspiration too.
Unseasonal buds have appeared on climbing roses which reach up to the war…[Read more] -

Oh! How I emphasise . Lovely to have so many ideas, but must focus on one of a time if possible. On the other hand, I suspect we are both skilled multitaskers in many areas!

Happy Mothering Sunday to all the mother Denizens.
Hoping to have a Facetime session with son and grandsons later today and I have younger grandson’s weekly story already written for him. The present series features all of us in one guise or another and I am back to the age of six, which is a lovely feeling. Each adventure begins in the…[Read more]

CoronaMo 6 years, 1 month agoThank you Jane and Raine. My immediate intention is to revisit/re edit a book for younger children and my Lucy Rainbow ‘opus’ with a view to submitting them again. Also to continue working on something which combines new prose and my past poetry. May never be a market for that but it will give me great satisfaction and may be of interest to fam…[Read more]

Sounds like a nice range of projects for you to move between when the mood takes you! I struggle with the multi-projecting, which is all I’ve been doing for aaaages, but I’m hoping to actually pick one project and stick for it for a while!

I envy you both. I find it very difficult to work on more than one thing at a time.

Love your railway blogs, Richard. Not only excellent writing and interesting to me subjects, but because my father and grandfather were railwaymen – rising all through the ranks. Your stories offer me nostalgia and many mixed emotions which, to me, is a mark of rich writing. Thank you. 😊. Write on as our friend Tony would council. Jill.

Only just spotted your good wishes, KazG. Thank you. We are not on holiday yet, but it is within a whisper! (Whisper is on my mind at the moment, it seems. Probably because it is part of the title of a poem about a time just before the 1974 Cyprus Troubles when we lived there and that is our holiday destination.). Anyway, that aside, I will…[Read more]

Hello, Richard. How gratifying that my little ‘blog’ has encouraged you. Yes, I had noticed that you were a bit down concerning writing. I guess we all go through this at some point in our writing life. Thank you for the tip about blogging. Stay well and stay upbeat. It is a lovely sunny day here and the winds of change are blowing! The Inner Critic, Encouragement and Perseverance
I have loved writing since childhood and now, early in my eighth decade, I have amassed a great amount of fiction and poetry. I have also enjoyed the challenges of academic writing. The path has been cyclical…[Read more]

Thank you for this Jill. I have been very downbeat about my writing lately, and void of inspiration (as you will have gathered if you read my comments in Hilary’s blog), but you remind me that where there’s life there’s hope, and that being published isn’t the be-all and end-all of existence.
To create a blog, go to Writers’ Forum > Den of…[Read more]

It’s a lovely sunny day here too and I’m about to leap outside and attack the weeds. Good blog though! Enjoying writing is the key. It makes me feel alive. I’m learning a craft bit by bit and exchanging ideas with other writers. What could be better!

After joining four weeks ago Life stuff got in the way (plus an attempt to log on failed and I could not work out what I had done wrong!). So, apologies and belated thanks to those who welcomed me into Den. I have just replied to Hilary on her Agent thread and hope that will have been done correctly… agreed with all the replies.
As for my…[Read more]

Very late to this, Hilary and sorry to hear of your disappointment. I have always loved your writing and it does sound as though you are within a whisper of novel publishing success with all those requests for a full manuscript. Others have already said much that I agree with. Best wishes. Jill
