@janeshuff – I’ll try to find you. And yes, it all looks very different on NaNo from my first ever visit in June.

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoTa all! The substance in question was, I believe, CBD oil; two gents were having a very animated discussion about setting up in business to supply it.
@Raine – I am a death-dreamer, too! I’ve been shot, drowned, stabbed – really weird to feel my life ebbing away in the dream.
I think the forced thing is definitely due to the fact that I try to…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoThis thread is for sharing our thoughts on the way the course is running. Are the seminars taking too long, not long enough, just right? Anything you think should be added or adjusted?
Go ahead and share!

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoI shall get my reflections together in the next couple of days. My IRL writing group is reading at a local festival thing tomorrow night, and I seem to have lost my multitasking skills…
With regards to the next seminar, can we share thoughts on how it’s gone so far over the next few days.
If everyone is good with it, we can start the next…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoThis is a bit of a cursory ‘reflections’ because I forgot to make notes of my thoughts as I read the chapters and did the exercises. Plus I’m away without the books so I can have a quick look to jog my memory.
The main thing I got out of Chapter One of the Burrows book was how useful a tool freewriting/freedrafting can be for all sorts of…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoRead your dialogue soon after a trip to Mull. Wish I had the memory to write down what I hear i passing. And your ‘I remember blue tiles and the smell of drains and old food.’ sums it up; as you say above, you only need a couple of telling details.

Anyone (esp. @jillybean or @athelstone) able to tell me why the MA course posts are visible on the main wall to non-members even though the group is set to private? When I’m logged out I can see all the posts but can’t click on them to get into the group. Will making the group hidden make any difference?
-
They are visible to anyone who is part of the group on the main wall, I think. How are you accessing them? Activity – all members? Activity – my groups? I will check under admin but I think it’s just because you’re part if the group.
-
Yes, but if I’m logged out shouldn’t I just be like any other punter looking at the site? I tried logging out and clearing my browser cache and I can still see all the posts. I also grabbed Mrs Athelsone’s laptop and I can see the posts from that – and she isn’t a Denizen or anything.
-
@raine you could try making the group hidden. Members will still be able to read and post etc. No idea whether the issue is in WordPress, BBPress, or BuddyPress – the relationships are a bit of a nightmare.
-
Have made the group hidden. Will look into it further as I suspect this will not fix the issue. There is deginitely a problem but only with this specific group so far. Will see what I can do.
-
There’s definitely something odd here. If I log out and go to “Groups”, then the MA Course is visible but marked private and I can’t get into it – which is right. If I go to “Writers’ Forum” the MA Course forum is listed, but the only other forums there are the public ones. I can’t get into the MA Course forum this way as it tells me to log on,…[Read more]

I’ve lost all your replies, but saw most of them I think before they vanished. THank-you for looking into it. It does just seem to be this particular group, which I would take personally, but the other group I set up doesn’t have this problem!!
-
The good news is that it’s a randomly occurring issue which doesn’t just affect this site. The bad news is well the same. Still running a few plugin repairs but I’ll get back to you.

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoAgreed, @Janeshuff and @hilary re the tiny details being evocative. I always struggle when someone is describing some room or building in perfect (perhaps even gorgeous!) detail. I’d rather just know one or two small, precise things that tell the story all on their own. So don’t tell me about every feature in some grand rococco drawing room, but…[Read more]

Andrew Wille's DIY MA course 6 years, 6 months agoInteresting how eclectic your I Remembers are, compared to some of the others – is that because you didn’t set yourself a starting point, or because you naturally skip between thoughts?
