Thanks @katemachon and @raine.
I have no idea when the shortlist will be announced. I didn’t even know the longlist was out until I saw someone twitting about it! There are so many great and experienced writers on that list I’m really chuffed I made it that far.
February 4, 2019 at 10:25 pm #4246TheaParticipantThat’s excellent! Congratulations, John and Elle.
February 6, 2019 at 1:55 pm #4266Philippa EastParticipantAmazing news, John and Elle! Fingers crossed for the shortlist…
February 6, 2019 at 6:20 pm #4270John S AltyParticipantThanks Philippa, Thea. Not much prospect of me progressing but I’m sure Elle is in with a chance.
February 7, 2019 at 10:57 am #4280DaedalusParticipantCongrats and good luck both – John, don’t do yourself down, you have a talent with the short story
February 7, 2019 at 4:25 pm #4282John S AltyParticipantI know I’m incredibly talented, Daeds, I’m just pretending to be modest.
February 7, 2019 at 5:55 pm #4283DaedalusParticipantAnd you’re doing brilliantly at it John 😉
February 25, 2019 at 11:44 pm #4495StevieParticipantI’m delighted, thrilled, stunned and generally, totally chuffed that my entry for our own Room with a View writing comp has been given a highly commended in the Michael Terrence short story comp. There is also a teasing mention of publication for a selection of the highly commended stories on the MTP webpage but no confirmation, as yet.
As if that wasn’t enough, a comic strip I scripted is being published in Futurequake, a small press comic of impecable credentials. 1 March is the date for my comic debut.

April 15, 2019 at 11:52 pm #4951KazGParticipantOh wow, what a story @philippaeast. Suspense and pacing tight as a drum, cool and utterly unnerving. Brilliant!
April 16, 2019 at 11:19 am #4958KateParticipantA great reminder that if you keep on battering your head against that wall, sometimes it cracks! Congratulations Philippa. I’ll go and enjoy the read.
April 16, 2019 at 11:53 am #4959ElleParticipantGreat story @philippaeast with a very strong voice. Love it!
