So, returning to my WIP this morning, I saw that the last sentence I’d written yesterday was – I don’t care if this is a redam. – And nope, I don’t have a clue what I meant…

Thanks @elle and @philippaeast
I sent it off within two hours. I just had to tailor the letter a little. Interestingly, I’d already sent it to CB, but that didn’t seem to make any difference (I did ask).
I think this has sparked me into starting my 2nd novel. This one will be easy to categorise. I’m going for supernatural horror, with a rather…[Read more] -

I like it. As @raine said it strikes the right balance of things said and unsaid.

Donβt change anything! Mr Sea is in Doha this weekend with instructions to visit the Museum of Islamic Art to take photos of their amazing collection of astrolabes. I donβt have any ideas yet, but I know an astrolabe will be involved.

I liked the prompts, Jonathan – their utter randomness and the idea. Stick with it. Nano will be a slow month, but we all might need a little breather mid month to keep ourselves sane!!

Guys, it’s dawned on me that not only have I set a ~bit~ of a demanding comp here, but I’ve gone and done it while everyone’s at Nano! π Would you like me to change it to something easier/shorter/more fun while we have a bit of time – would that be ok – or shall I leave as is?

Sounds good. Plenty of things said and unsaid in there. Of course, now you’ve spent ages deciding on that, your editor will definitely want to change it again!!

That’s amazing @Daedalus!! SO exciting! Although not for him, obv. For him that’s the ultimate defeat *sobs offscreen*. And I love it when you realise something, and there’s that ‘well, yes, *obviously*’ feeling to it. Like that facet of your story was there all along, you just hadn’t spotted it. So good.

Hi guys,
To update: the title Sarah and I have decided on (for now) is….

Oh wow, @alanr, that is such exciting news about the request!!!! Amazing. Have you sent it off yet? Whatever happens, I am sure you’ll get some invaluable feedback. Congrats again!!

That’s great insight! I guess this is what we mean by the “lie” that our characters labour under. (Their misunderstanding about how the world works and what is needed of them) Our stories will have tragic ends if our characters never learn to see through the lies they are living by.

Hi Elle,
I really enjoyed this, and it works for me! It’s the classic issue of the ex, right? The one you can never compete with properly. I like it.
Only spotted one typo: “She was the seed of doubt planted in me which feed on those silences” – should it be fed?
Great work!
