I second that approach to gardening, Squidge. It’s been a weird couple of months but I have got a lot of writing done. Loved the cover for the second Tilda book btw!

Thank you! I’m really interested to see what Bink give Tilda for the other books…there are bones in 3, dragons in 4 and I’m still working out number 5! 😉 All I do know is that the colour of the books will reflect the region where the action happens – so we’ve had red and green, still got yellow, purple and blue to come.

Well done, Raine. I managed a newsletter and 1000 words of current wip but a) I don’f have children so I did not have home schooling to contend with and b) every one of those words felt like I extracted them with pliers!

I like that idea, Raine. At present I’m still at work but if the libraries close then I’ll be at a loose end. And I definitely have books to write!

I’m all for it. Currently on lockdown in France but finding it surprisingly difficult to concentrate on anything other than phoning friends. Would love a group to get me focussed on achieving a few things. Could we ban discussion of the virus though?

I agree with what you say, Raine. I should have clarified what I meant by problematic. For instance there are readers who boycott writers just on someone else’s sayso – I think you should always do your due dillifence and try to find out the whole story in as far as you can. This is something that I end up discussing a lot with my co-dragon on Dissecting Dragons. Ultimately, I think it’s fine to read and enjoy problematic art by problematic artists. They are visible to anyone who is part of the group on the main wall, I think. How are you accessing them? Activity – all members? Activity – my groups? I will check under admin but I think it’s just because you’re part if the group.

Yes, but if I’m logged out shouldn’t I just be like any other punter looking at the site? I tried logging out and clearing my browser cache and I can still see all the posts. I also grabbed Mrs Athelsone’s laptop and I can see the posts from that – and she isn’t a Denizen or anything.

@raine you could try making the group hidden. Members will still be able to read and post etc. No idea whether the issue is in WordPress, BBPress, or BuddyPress – the relationships are a bit of a nightmare.

Have made the group hidden. Will look into it further as I suspect this will not fix the issue. There is deginitely a problem but only with this specific group so far. Will see what I can do.

There’s definitely something odd here. If I log out and go to “Groups”, then the MA Course is visible but marked private and I can’t get into it – which is right. If I go to “Writers’ Forum” the MA Course forum is listed, but the only other forums there are the public ones. I can’t get into the MA Course forum this way as it tells me to log on,…[Read more]

Do you guys use whatever your browser equivalent of ‘keychain’ is? Usually if you have your password stored in that, it will only periodically check that you’re not a robot. Apologies for needing to add recaptcha but the bot situation was getting a bit dire!

There’s definitely a knack to formatting ebooks but it’s easy when you’ve got the hang of it. I recommend the Smashwords Style Guide to get yoy started (perma free in ebook). And I might be able to help point people in the right direction if anyone is really stuck?

Some extra spaces end up turning into extra lines…apparently. SO glad it’s not up to me to do the formatting.
