Is this the kind of thing peeps meant? Still needs a tweak or two, yet, but…
By Tilda’s twenty-sixth attempt to produce an illuminorb, Silviu’s patience was wearing thin.
“Concentrate, Tilda,” the Ambakian powermage snapped.
“I am concentrating.” Tilda rubbed her palm against her trouser leg. It felt hot; surely she must’ve been close to…[Read more]

*air punch* Yes, publishing moves at a glacial pace but this is a fabulous stride forwards – at last. I saw your lovely agent at York, though we didn’t have a chance to chat. I do know how much she adores you though. (Don’t we all!) xx

Thanks Lorraine. To some extent you’re reading my mind! I’ve changed the opening, she’s on a three day pass, we’re down to one policeman, added sensory bits, edited, edited. Your comments are very helpful. I think I might just put it on my website.

Fab night at NIBS last night – some amazing work coming out of the group. Not least because of a prompt that had middle-aged Gwendoline going on the rampage in the works canteen wearing underwear made from Wotsits, and evading security on a hostess trolley…

Thanks, Gipps – and you should see my scrap bag! I’m sure there’s at least another quilt in there trying to get out, plus a couple of sets of squares that I need to do something with…
Next quilting project is one for my son – I’m aiming to get it done by the time he goes to uni. Which gives me a year…eeek!!

Choose ring bound notebooks to scribble ideas in; you’ll never lose your pen if you keep one clipped down the inside of the rings…

Jane – yes, this is the start of number 2…
Will have a think about the success bit… If two peeps think it, you might well have a point. 😉

We used to have a place for Writing Prompts on the cloud…can’t remember where. Is there any mileage in having the same here? And if so, is the Lifeboat the best place for it? Happy to kick one off if folks want it – I’m heading to NIBS tonight and there’s a couple of corkers we’re going to be using…

Thanks Kate, Mad.
Actually, I reckon your way would work too, Mad. I suppose it depends what it is you’re trying to emphasise in the opener – for me, it was the fact that Tilda’s been trying to get this bloomin’ illuminorb right for so long, whereas depending on how you worded the next bit, your suggestion might focus attention on Silviu and his…[Read more]
