Apologies for the lateness of these results. You won’t believe how hard it’s been these past few days to find time to settle down with a cup of tea and a clear mind to give your entries the attention they deserve.
@Sandra – No worries. If you’re in the zone with ‘Mercy’, you’re in the zone.
@Knickylaurelle – This sparked with energy. Loved ‘…[Read more]

Aw, thanks @knickylaurelle! I did wonder if the medical terms and general set-up might be a bit too off-putting, but obviously not! 😂 Unexpectedly, I had a few moments of nostalgia writing this. There are elements of it I still miss.
Thanks to Ath for giving me the idea in the first place, thanks to Sandra for a bit more Luke, and thanks to my…[Read more]

Super story @seagreen. Positively inspired and a worthy winner.
Thanks for the comp @knickylaurelle. I enjoyed it in spite of it bringing back a few awful memories.

Thank you guys for entering! And for writing such fun pieces – they all have something special to them, I think.
@athelstone I love the details and voice of yours, the small touches that make each character so recognisable.
@sandradavies well, naked men wrestling, what more can anyone ask for really?? Love the balance of violence and tenderness…[Read more] -

Aw thank you @knickylaurelle!! Glad it struck a chord 🙂 And I loved everyone else’s entries so yay everyone!
Okay, I need to think about next month – will get pondering and post something later/tmrw.

Hi all! Thank you so much for entering this month – sorry I’m not the actual winner of last month but I’ve had fun being undeserved organiser anyway!
@knickylaurelle, I loved the dark, shadowy atmosphere to this. Lost boys and forests and witches – *chefs kiss* Some utterly beautiful imagery in here, my favourite has got to be ‘a cackle can be…[Read more]

Thank you Raine for so topically filling the breach, setting and judging (always the hardest part) the monthly comp. I am making good progress after stroke + surgery so hope to be back to full-strength participation soon

*giant hugs*

Oh my goodness, Sandra, I had no idea you were going through such a hard time. Pleased to hear you’re making good progress. Take it easy. Best wishes to you and yours. xxx

Thanks, Newbie. I count myself lucky to have come through it with minimal side effects – and a huge warm glow from the quantity and breadth of caring messages which have come my way from friends and family.

@knickylaurelle just to let you know Sandra won’t be able to set a challenge as she’s offline for a wee while. Did you want to set another? Or I can invent something?

Very deserved win @sandradavies, well done! & thank you for an unusual, fun challenge @knickylaurelle. Everyone’s entries were great (& fascinating insights into your psyche!!).

Re Choices, and especially @seagreen and @knickylaurelle who have posted choices. Sorry, I inadvertently put up an old version of the lists which omitted “animal” from choice 1.
A reminder that everybody is free to change choices until the group closes.

That’s interesting @knickylaurelle – makes me enjoy the piece even more. I think it’s hard to write well about one’s own experiences – at least I find it so!

Wow! This is the best collection of stories I’ve read in response to a single competition. They’re a joy to read and completely daunting to judge.
What impressed me most, on top of all the individual skills displayed, is that every piece is such a distinct rendition of the author’s voice. I’ve read most of you before and could recognise you in…[Read more]

Our very own Jules (@jillybean) did indeed wave her magic wand of WordPress magic to conjure up this fabulous confcetion, the Den of Writers. The full guilty few , who thought the place up, squabbled over names, who does what, founded and funded it are: Jules (@jillybean), Athelstone (@athelstone), Fiona (@bric), Daedalus (@daedalus), KazG…[Read more]

They’re a modest lot so perhaps just a eulogy to me, how I came up with the idea and built the site from scratch – that sort of thing 🙂
But more seriously, I expect we’ll find a place for the list if anybody wants to find it.

Thanks for that, Athers. In that case, well done to all concerned a wonderful job has been undertaken and it is much appreciated to be able to fan the spirit of ‘The Wordcloud’ into new (and hopefully) everlasting realms.

OK. Um… working on a laptop as my phone doesn’t do anything but take calls and send texts. (Yes, really! But Mr Squidge is talking about dragging me into the 21st century re posh phones, so we live in hope…) @knickylaurelle, does that right click work on a mouse? I see I shall have to experiment – or stick to 🙂 😉 🙁 :O 😛

I know others have said it – saying it here cos I can’t find the flippin’ thoughts on the den blog to comment there. Widgets for specific media haven’t yet been added. They will be soon. I thibk Knicky must have used the img key on the topic reply box and put in the image url from a public folder. @knickylaurelle is that what you did on the feedback thread? Otherwise fear not, Barny. There are media widgets on the way.

No please :/ . . . I did it on my comp. I clicked the IMG button and it led me to a box where I could post the url of the pic online so then I pasted the url to the pic in the box and the image was added to the post that way.
