Great writing Seagreen. I thought it was a winner as soon as I read it. Super competition Daeds and what a great effort with all the feedback!

Left Luggage
You can be the finder, the keeper, or the person in the lost and found looking after the following items:
An old army great coat
A banjo or ukulele
A plastic lunchbox with a 60’s TV theme (contents up to you)
A spellbook (my nod to Halloween)Choose one and weave a compelling story around its loss or discovery.
No more than 400…[Read more] -

Ah, Daeds, you’re too generous. I didn’t expect that, and have, in fact, been checking the Den frequently today to find out what the theme for this month’s comp would be π
I’m delighted, of course, given the calibre of the entries, but hope no-one expects that same level of insight when it comes to October’s judging.
Off to think of something to set…

Mean and generous tied at 11 each so the outcome at the moment is generous by default. Anybody yet to vote who feels like being mean?

Just a quick note to all Denizens: if you’ve missed the “Room with a View” challenge, take a quick trip to the group “A Room with a View” and read up on this short story extravaganza. You have until 22:00 tomorrow (Sunday 30th September) to join the group and make choices as explained in the Welcome Topic. It’s great fun and lasts until FEBRUARY…[Read more]

5 days to enter A Room with a View
If you donβt get in this challenge, youβll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the rest of your life.

My experience of Twitter is that the impression one gets of its nature, for example whether there is a particular faction behaving in a particular way, is very much dependent on where you go and who you follow but also what you regard as appropriate or excessive. Personally, I have never noticed that I am not followed back; if anything I am the…[Read more]

It’s not. The chit chat thread is over in the Challenge Group “A Room with a View” but as all votes count – so does yours!

OK β this is really important. This is NEW, this is a TWIST and this is IMPORTANT.
The choices you have made, are making and are still free to change can have an impact on the way you write your story. However, one of the choices may have a surprising effect depending on whether I am GENEROUS or MEAN. And the surprise may not be expected. So β…[Read more]

An update is a comment that isn’t part of the thread of a forum topic. Somebody can reply to it or add a further comment. Replies and replies to replies are indented below whatever they are a reply to, comments are not but they all follow in sequence below the original update. Comments on updates are made by clicking on the black speech bubble…[Read more]

Hi John
I’m assuming that you get the login screen with user name, password and the login button, but that if you click the button it just goes on showing you that screen. I wondered whether a broken page was lodged in your browser cache which is stopping the ‘logged in’ screen appearing even though you have successfully logged in. I’m not saying…[Read more] -

I so wish I’d been there to hear you speak, Skylark. You may be tired of hearing it but you really do deserve your success. Not just for Home, which is a fantastic book, but for the years of contributions to everybody who knows you – the encouragement and the example and damn near 100% good nature and positivity.

@jd73 Enjoyed your comp entry. It reminded me of your namesake’s Struldbruggs (it isn’t you is it, Mr. Swift?) but damned by curiosity rather than fate. And an ending even bleaker than Swift imagined.
