Yes, there’s been previous discussions about this. Bottom line, no need to copyright (or to put that copyright “c” on any docs.)
Putting that “c” on looks naive at best, narcissistic at worst!

Can someone give me a kick up the bum to rewrite this chapter that needs fixing? I’ve got the dead, but run out of steam…

*got the ideas, I meant

Sending much steam, and also mild violence…

Gaaaargh

A purely figurative kick from me. Also would a cup of tea help replenish the steam?

Yes!!

I’ll put the kettle on 😉

Well, if you don’t write it. someone else will. And while they won’t do as good a job, theirs will nevertheless be the last word.
How’m I doing in the bum-kicking leaderboard? 😉
In seriousness: if you are struggling with just filling the space and doing it, why not have a play? Load the scene with symbolism. Pack out the scenery with things…[Read more]

You can do it. You’re on the final stretch!

Oh, and don’t withdraw other subs till you have signed the contract with the agent (in case it falls through)

Oh – and it’s worth emailing the other agents with ‘Offer of Representation’ in the subject line. This will make sure they pick up your email and act on it.
This post has guidance on all kinds of follow-up emails that you might have to send…

Picking up on Pinkbelts question a few comments back (yes, what happened on this thread??) – what to say to other agents if you get an offer of representation…
The courteous thing to do is to contact those other agents and let them know – before you accept – that you’ve had an offer. Those agents should then hurry up and get back to you,…[Read more]

You’re welcome! It’s a nice way for me to bridge my two “identities” (writer and psychologist) xx

@juliecordiner: lots of agents are looking for historical fiction at the moment (it’s the latest trend…), so any agents that represent “fiction” will probably be interested. Go for it!

Mandy, it was so wonderful to see you up there. You spoke beautifully: so honest and with such heart. You were a complete credit to yourself and to Jessica.
I brought a friend with me to the Festival, a fellow writer (Cynthia) from my local critique group. I have been encouraging her hard to pursue her writing dreams. I think for her, hearing…[Read more]

okay, might be waffling on a bit here, but it’s sparked a load of thoughts.
In general I like the opening couple of paragraphs. It paints a strong and immediate picture of character and place.
You set up the omniscient narrator with the phrase highlighted in bold below.
“When the lights went out across Europe, Lina Stephenson did not notice at…[Read more] -

Hi Raine,
I love the sound of this story. A literary apocalyptic novel? YES PLEASE!
I definitely like the idea of having scenes from various characters’ lives, i.e. to have sections in different POVs. I think it serves the genre well because it creates an epic, global canvas for your story. Basically – how is the human race as a whole going to…[Read more]

Hi Squidge!
How lovely to read about Tilda, and dive into the world you have created. I really like the idea of Tilda being so aware of the Power inside her – literally feeling it – but now grappling to translate this into the creation of the orb. It’s quite symbolic in a way!
Overall, this second version seems tighter than the first, so well…[Read more]
