There should be a little double speech box icon in the bottom right corner of the main post. If you hover over that it should give you the option to ‘view conversation’ and if you click on it should open up the entire chat. If someone has commented on a comment rather than on the main post, you may need to do the same on the comment. Occasionally…[Read more]

This was such a great project to be a part of (not least because I was basically asked to write war of the worlds fan fic 😉 ) Matt is being humble by the way. He’s written the opening novellette The Battle of the Alma, which sets the scene and tone for the entire anthology. It’s an excellent piece of fiction with stellar world building. (I keep…[Read more]

No invite thus far, Kaz. My NaNo handle is ThrowingCopper. (You did invite me right? Because someone else had already nabbed the name Jillybean 😉)

I might join you too, if that’s alright? Would be a good chance to get these other historical novellas done.
-
@kazg I haven’t seen an invite from you. Fabulous @jillybean
-
@janeshuff I can’t find you! There doesn’t seem to be a Janeshuff coming up. Other Janes, but not you 🙁 Might you come up under another name? Ditto for @daedalus and @jillybean…
-
Try under my e mail address. I will send it again if you gaven’t got it. Or what is your name?
-
Nope to the email address. Have you signed up for the Camp? I think you have to sign up specifically for it first – it won’t find you from the old Nano site (which I think is why I can’t find @daedalus and @jillybean at the moment). It’s a private cabin so you won’t see it @janeshuff – if you make it public they fill it for you and I don’t…[Read more]

Ok I have just seen this on the Camp NaNo website:
‘Once in your cabin, you can invite your friends by typing their usernames into the invitation field. You can invite up to 19 Campers. A Camper must have created a profile, a novel, and deselected “I don’t want cabin invitations this session” to be eligible.’
So there you are – you need to be si…[Read more]

(Also you have to select, “I don’t want to be included in a cabin” so you are not sorted into a random cabin)

-
Aha! Got you 🙂 and yes I did invite Jillybean so I’d better go and uninvite them, if I can…

-
please do! That would be fab 🙂 (and also your output will keep us on our toes..!)
-
(This for @jillybean of course 🙂 )

I thought I had. I will be home in an hour and will check and look for you

Not for me. I would love to see everyone but that price tag is not a great inducement.
-
It’s my biggest disincentive. Last year it ruled things out plain and simple. I’ll be honest, I’m thinking about it this year because I may have a viable book to take. That hasn’t been a reason for any of my previous visits,
-
Also, I’m going stir crazy as I haven’t been out more than ten times since mid January
-
The jury’s out for me as yet, Athers. It depends on whether I get a reply from DHH re Doris. If he doesn’t want it, I might be tempted to take it to York. I’m also mulling over going only Saturday and meeting old friends, though it depends on how many are going.
-
I would love to see everybody and if enough people were going and I could combine it with seeing family in the UK, I might think about it…
-
I’ll be deciding before the ‘early bird’ offer expires because the cost of the full weekend without the Friday mini-course is actually £40 LESS than I paid 5 years ago.

Something ate Feb and most of March when I wasn’t looking, so I’m all for @raine ‘s suggested course of action.

It should show all your posts but sometimes it ‘folds’ them to save space. This is annoying but there’s not much that xan be done at present. However if you’ve been mentioned in a post using your handle, then select mentions from the main navigational menu (assuming you’re logged in). You can access the post there. Failing that trh actually going…[Read more]

Thanks Jules – I’ll accept it is an occasional hiccup and work round it.

Yeah, I got hit by that glitch on that comment thread too, @sandradavies. It does seem to strike at random. :-/

Agree with Daed and WB. We all take tge journey or mountain at what speed best serves us. And you should definitely keep going with AROS (as long as you want to!)

Ok that’s mad. For £84 you can join skillshare (having got the first 3 months free) and pretty much learn evetything being taught here from a choice of 100s of different teachers. With a bit of research and determination, you can find professional author groups to join that will give you a lot of the hand holding and help. Ok it includes the…[Read more]

Go for it, Stevie. I bet you can knock out more words in 5 months than you think. And worst case scenario, you’ll still have the makings of a story if you don’t hit the deadline.

Jules started the topic Monster Anthology opportunity in the forum Competitions, Open calls and Writing Opportunities 7 years, 8 months ago
Absolutely huge word count on these – publisher is basically requesting a novella. But you might find that works for you. Plus monster stories from a LGBTQAIP+ angle.
Here’s the link in case anyone is interested.

Okay, thanks, folks. It’ll be on its way to you soon. @jillybean, perhaps you’d PM me with your e-mail address? (I have the other two.)

The problem is not insisting on a profile. The problem is the necessary custom code to make it visible. It’s being looked into at any rate.
-
Ah … thanks, Jules.
-
Sorry! I was one of the trusting culprits who made friends. It just seemed unkind to refuse. I’ve learned my lesson now.
-
Not a culprit at all. The name on the profile gave nothing away and I was the first to accept because I thought it was somebody I’d met recently and told about the site (I only knew her first name). Anyway, Jules has sorted “her” out now.
-
Oo er. ‘She’ must be sore!

Fingers crossed the will reappear – same lack on phone & laptop, of both links and double speech boxes.
The other thing to consider is that if you repky to a comment, and the author of the comment deletes it, all the replies to that comment will be deleted to.
In this case, it’s a writing exercise, each of us posting for others to comment on. One seen and disappeared, the other never seen at all.
I’m afraid I have no immediately explanation but I’ll attempt to access it from the back end and see what can be done.
