Lovely blog, Squidge. And your quilting is very impressive. What an amazing colour!

Apologies for the formatting! That’ll teach me to cut and paste…

…how does this grab you?

It wasn’t until her twenty-seventh attempt that Tilda finally managed to produce her first illuminorb.
And a good job, too, because by the twenty-sixth attempt, Silviu’s patience was wearing very thin. “Concentrate, Tilda,” the Ambakian powermage snapped.
“I am concentrating.” Tilda rubbed her palm against her…[Read more]

Just to make up for the rather morose blog I shared a few days ago about the demise of the cloud, here’s one that is decidedly more upbeat. And has nothing to do with writing except for having a shout-out for the Den!

(Promise I won’t post tons of Scribbles links – I’ll only post the writingy ones from here on in!)

So… I really ought to do some housework before I do any writing today.

What’s that? You think I ought to do the writing first? Oh….go on, then. I will. Wordy Wednesday, here I come 😉

Absolutely. In fact, doing the housework is clearly procrastination which you should avoid at all costs

So far, have written a blog post, messaged a friend who is feeling frazzled about son starting uni, and am about to do a bit on the WIP. Happy Squidge!

Happy dancing along with the rest, Kaz! Congratulations – this is so exciting. Sorry I’ve not been in among the beta readers but I’d love to catch up with this some time.

I did wonder if there was an act involved… Not convinced you need lots more ‘innits’ unless he’s thinking them. Glad the thoughts were useful x

Thank you Squidge,I appreciate the input. Food for thought.

I have so missed reading your writing! So good to see you here x

Ooh… I like this. Love the ramblings of his mind and the nuggets he reveals. I think I only noticed one it’s instead of its towards the start, so don’t worry so much about the dyslexia…

The first thing I picked up on are his speech/thought patterns. By which I mean he sounds…[Read more]

Like it. You mentioned ‘telly’ bits – as in telling, rather than showing. So when we first meet Florence, you tell us ‘a woman was sitting in a chair’ – a simple change like ‘a woman sat in a chair, eyes on the tv’ can make it less so. Similarly, towards the end, ‘He held a glass in each hand which…’could become something like ‘The glasses in…[Read more]

Absolutely FANTASTIC! I cannot express how delighted I am! Ada is brilliant and her story deserves to be told and filmed and …. oh I am so happy!

Kaz! KAAAAAZZZZ! This is utterly brilliant news. I’m so delighted and excited for you. You’re absolutely right to have an agent too, even though you’ve already got what most people want from an agent. As soon as there’s somewhere online that I can link to, I’ll be adding you to the Self-Edit Hall of Fame. Lots of you are already listed there.…[Read more]

Thabks for the shout out, Kaz 😊 it was your talent and perseverence that won the day though xxx

There are two things it does do, John.

1 – it forms one of the filters on what you want to see on the main wall (Activity tab on main menu). You can toggle through the sub menu and choose to only see what friends have said. Right now we’re a small forum of 70 but if we hit a couple of 1000 of active users, you might very well prefer to just see…[Read more]

You mean the coppery tang of blood as her scalpel slices through pale flesh?! Just kidding. I know what you mean, Laure, I need to work on the atmosphere.
I hope this exercise is helping others to get a grasp of what makes a story work – join in everyone.

Can someone explain this “friends” thing? I have seen it on other forums, so I know it’s a recognized feature. And I’ve had “friend requests” to which I always respond positively. What I don’t get is what it does that just being a member of the forum doesn’t. Aren’t we all friends? Confused.
