Go with the one you and your agent both like. 🙂
FWIW I like it too.

Most of them are good, but I particularly like ‘Two Cities and the Void’ and ‘London and her Shadow’

ps @raine I do know what you mean about the female appendage sort of titles, too. thought I have a liking for “The (x person) of (somewhere interesting)” even thought they’ve been a bit done lately

Ooh interesting list @raine. I also like the feel of The Girl and The Missing. And yes, I like the idea of exile too @alanr.
I sent a list of ideas to my agent before I left for India (below) and the one that jumped out for her was When Days Tilt – which I have to admit is one of my favourites, even though it’s a bit more aslant to the…[Read more]

I’m doing it. It nearly killed me last year and I’m still astonished that I actually completed it…but I found it really useful to just get the words on the page and not get hung up on plot details or side-tracked by research. Also the momentum led to some story surprises, in a good way. I’m using it to kick start book two so I’ll buddy up with…[Read more]

Mine would definitely be a slow write. I have no idea how I’m going to get any writing done at all between now and the New Year… Not even my Room with a view! 🙁
I’ll sign up though, and hope for the best… -

I like Raine’s suggestion of December. It would allow those doing NaNo to keep up a bit of momentum while not having to keep to such a ferocious pace, and is soon enough that folk not doing NaNo have something to look forward to. And it could be a good way of getting Room With A View entries done

A Story of No Importance
Or, Lady Wokingham’s Ban
Or, Baloné: A Tragedy in One ActWas meeting the in-laws ever straightforward? Alton reflected on the frosty atmosphere as he pushed his food around his plate. Ooh I love a good title debate.
Tbh, I’m not a fan of ‘The {x persons}’s {female relative}. BEcause a) there’s been a gazillion of them, and b) it reduces the woman/girl to an addendum to their male relative. Also, I think ‘The Time-stealers Daughter’ is too close to The Time Traveller’s Wife for me. I know that’s adult, and a bit dated now, but…[Read more]

😀 @seagreen. Perhaps December could be a Den SloMoWriMo, because December and writing do not appear to ever co-exist anyway!

The Banjo
The phone rings in the lost property office at Euston Station in London.
“Lost Property, Smith speaking, how may we help?”
He takes a sip from his tea, listens.
“Yes, sir, anything left on a train on this line ends up here. Assuming it’s turned in, like. What have you lost?
“So, a banjo is it sir? Well let me have a look, won’t be…[Read more] -

Yes, there’s something to be said for leaving all the polishing until the editing, and I’m sure it works for some, but not for me. If something I’ve written doesn’t satisfy me, it niggles at me until I’ve put it right.

I might sort of do it from the sidelines… use the general impetus and ground swell to push on with book 2. Very much doubt I’ll be hitting those targets, but I’d like to get some more chapters written.
Maybe we can have DeNoWriMo (Den novel writing month)
