Thanks @daedalus – still hasn’t completed sunk in but I am lucky to have a great support system. That’s one of the things I love about the writing community.

@Hilary – I know we talked about this before but I will say it again. That age comment from this agent is rubbish, plenty of authors have their debut later in life. I’m quite sure Kit de Waal was over 50 when she published My Name is Leon.
There are still plenty of agents out there to submit to and the number of full request you’ve received shows the quality of your writing

Found out a couple of days ago that both flash fiction I entered in the Storgy Magazine Flash Fiction Competition have made it on the shortlist and both will be published in the competition chapbook!

Not sure what kind of feedback you are after but I wanted to say that you write well and it sounds like an interesting story. It has potential but the first three paragraphs are too much tell and not enough show. Furthermore there are also heavy in filtering (such as seem, glance, made aware, know, etc…) which puts a distance between the reader and the MC, and heavy on passive descriptions.
Also a technical nickpick. You are missing a lot of commas and full stops in your dialogue. For example,
“I don’t know if the camera can even see what I’m seeing” in truth, this wasn’t really the time to be talking to the camera
Should be
“I don’t know if the camera can even see what I’m seeing.” In truth, this wasn’t really the time to be talking to the camera
Or
“It’s okay” he told himself
Should be
“It’s okay,” he told himself
My feedback would be to start with tightening the prose by removing unnecessary filtering, and a better balance of show versus tell, and go from there.

I have no idea when the shortlist will be announced. I didn’t even know the longlist was out until I saw someone twitting about it! There are so many great and experienced writers on that list I’m really chuffed I made it that far.
