That would be a very good end of year @janeshuff. I hope you are all ok over there. Awful to read about all the anger and destruction x

@janeshuff I don’t feel guilt at all. Maybe I’m the odd one out?
What does baffle me are writers who admit to not enjoying the actual writing, and that includes all aspects of it, particularly editing. They procrastinate and actually seem proud of it. Or is it all a bluff? If not, Wtf? -

@janeshuff this looks like another case where bbpress is hiding replies (for space and tidiness) but not providing a ‘show all replies’ button. So although I can see there were 8 replies, I can’t actually view them.

@janeshuff there’s a possibility of that happening in my current wip – only more likely shorts -> trousers as the MC is a he.

Thanks @raine @janeshuff and @elle.
Good to hear, Elle, that you got something positive from that particular course. I’ve never done a writing course of any description, so I’m keeping an open mind.
Had an out-of-the-blue message from one of CB’s agents today asking for my novel. Now, that is welcome, although it would be truly remarkable if a…[Read more]

@janeshuff, that’s a great way of putting it. Yes, “the broad sweeps” and then refining in the edits.

@janeshuff, that sort of forum would be great wouldn’t it? Perhaps worth setting one up sometime.
@squidge & @richardb, it’s a gorgeous place, isn’t it? I had a couple of trips there to stay at a residential welsh language school in the most stunning, stark, kind of depressing setting. I love all those abandoned mines/quarrys/houses. Softer than…[Read more] -

Oh, good luck with that one, Raine – I love doing research, but alas can’t help you on this occasion.
I love the idea of a group to share locations though, @janeshuff. I’m basing my wip on West Yorkshire (where I live), namely the 60s era, but am more than willing to share info on my part of town. -

Thanks for your input @athelstone @seagreen @Janeshuff @kazg @Squidge @elle @Bellam
That 5 of you go towards YA / Children’s and the other 2 suggest SF / Fantasy tells me that the original name is still the one to use, although I will still make a minor tweak to it.
So, yes, it’s a literary-leaning novel about possession, with the MFC split.

You lot are fantastic! Thank you all so much for brainstorming for me 🙂
@seagreen and @janeshuff – I think you’re really onto something there with The Time Stealer/Snatcher’s… and using that to bundle the series together. Going to ponder that.
@jd73 that made me snort – Iron Maiden’s back catalogue 🙂 But I love them. And I’m leaning…[Read more]

YAY for dolphins @janeshuff!! They are just the most amazing creatures. (Apart from bats, obv). Have never got over the buzz of seeing them however often I’ve done so.

Go you @janeshuff! I think @skylark, and others have done the 100 day thing and found it helpful. I think I would falter at the weekends – RL being inconsiderate and getting in the way!

Our very own Jules (@jillybean) did indeed wave her magic wand of WordPress magic to conjure up this fabulous confcetion, the Den of Writers. They’re a modest lot so perhaps just a eulogy to me, how I came up with the idea and built the site from scratch – that sort of thing 🙂
But more seriously, I expect we’ll find a place for the list if anybody wants to find it.

Thanks for that, Athers. In that case, well done to all concerned a wonderful job has been undertaken and it is much appreciated to be able to fan the spirit of ‘The Wordcloud’ into new (and hopefully) everlasting realms.

@JaneShuff – thanks for pointing our that sentence to me I can see how it’s confusing and needs some work. And I will correct the pronoun and tense slip!

Thanks @kazg. Luckily we are far from the mayhem of Paris and the gilets jaunes here were peacable enough. However they’ve started blockading the Port du Commerce which means no petrol deliveries and there was a spate of panic buying over the weekend which means the pumps have run dry!
Oh yikes! Hope the blockade lifts soon, although I have to admire their protest power! Good luck for the writing today – and without the OH to interrupt!
Oh no, hope you don’t get stuck! yes, the French know how to get protesting, don’t they? Phlegmatic they are not. Good luck with the writing @janeshuff
